Sunnyslope experienced a new part of the ever evolving high school athletic world having to deal with what was likely the schools first early graduate for sports.
At the center of this was Sunnyslope Early Graduate Luke Moga who has been attending classes and practices at eh University of Oregon since January.
“Oregon is different than Slope in every way you can imagine,” said Moga, “From weight room to team runs to the classroom everything is 10x harder.”
It is expected for college to be harder but Moga is experiencing it all earlier than most of the countries students which adds even more difficulty.
“Being a college athlete is super hard, you have to be able to manage your time,” Moga said, “Nobody checks in on you and helps you unless you ask.”
Moga, however, doesn’t plan on falling behind or letting the challenges of college deter him from becoming a great football player.
Moga said, “I would sum up for career so far ‘not even close’ because I just started playing and I haven’t accomplished anything yet.
Saying he hasn’t accomplished anything yet may be an overstatement as in his junior and Senior season he threw for a combined 4141 yards while running for 1196 yards and a total of 66 touchdowns which is a reason why he was so recruited.
Along with Oregon Moga had 24 offer from schools like Miami, Arizona State, Brigham Young, Kansas, and Utah; although he said, “I chose Oregon because they recruited me the hardest and when I take of my business on and off the field this is the best place to set myself up for life.”
Over the next 4 years Moga has a real chance to become something special and perhaps even go beyond college with football and if any has a chance to do it, its the kid who went from never having played football to starting Varsity QB to an early enrollee at a prestigious football school.
