It takes a lot to get the opportunity to play sports at an elite level and many don’t figure out if they will until the end of high school.
However, for senior Jordan McMahon, the decision was made early on by committing during the first semester of her Junior year to Weber State.
“I honestly just really fell in love with Weber’s program and their coaches,” said McMahon, “They gave me a great scholarship and really pursued me so I committed.”
Playing softball has always been a dream for McMahon and makes sense with how good she’s been.
“When I was in 8th grade I just remember really finding success with softball and really falling in love with it so I knew I wanted to play at the highest level,” said McMahon.
Weber State, a part of the big sky conference, recruited her for quite some time and treated McMahon very well.
McMahon said, “They also saw me as the player I was and they were not trying to recruit me to change much.”
It’s not like there is much to be changed as McMahons potential is the sky.
“I think she’ll do really good,” said Senior Arrisa Staten, “I think she could be an All-American for softball.”
A big reason for this is how hard of a worker McMahon is.
“She’s just hardworking,” said Staten “She’s a good teammate and she’s always trying to push people to be their best.”
This hard work has paid off in other ways as McMahon has had to make her way back from a torn ACL last year.
“I just got cleared form an ACL and meniscus tear, so my goals for this season are to do the best I can to push myself and improve my skill set in order to prepare for college,” McMahon said.
There is no doubt that once she’s back on the diamond McMahon will be better than ever and ready for whatever is ahead, but she will never forget what is behind her.
“Club softball and school softball has taught me everything I know about the game and I will continue to look upon it for the incredible friendships I made and the hardships I have learned to work through,” said McMahon.
