Victor’s Place opened its newly renovated location in the F building on August 28 with lines out the door and into the dirt lot near the tennis courts.
This took place after an increasing demand for what many call delicious treats and goods.
“There are way more options at Victor’s…the slushies are so nice when it’s hot outside,” said Junior Sophia Abrahamson.
Victor’s Place serves warm and cold items, along with bagged snacks, so there is a treat for every occasion; however, everyone has their favorites.
When asked how often students plan on purchasing these delicacies, the answers often relied on the temperature outside.
“They have some good stuff but I’m probably going to go more when it cools down outside. I like hot chocolate a lot when I’m cold,” said Senior Ella Gagnon.
Since the temperatures range differently throughout the school year, the new location can accommodate the inconsistent weather patterns.
“When it’s hot outside, now I can go inside to cool down, and when it’s cold, I can warm up inside and buy yummy food,” said Sophomore Payton Robinson.
With a new location comes a new appearance, and many new opinions.
“I like the modern look of it; it’s definitely an upgrade compared to the old building,” said Junior Jon Nelson, “It feels more sanitary.”
Recent opinions on the “lengthy distance” have been a hot commodity around campus. Although Victor’s Place remained on the Southeast side of campus, this small change can feel as though it is a big inconvenience when in a rush.
Sophomore Emma Eastion said, “I want it to move back to the old spot. Walking to the news location and back just takes so much more time.”
New things always take some getting used to, so students may need to spend a bit more time walking, but quicker service is never something to complain about.
Victor’s Place now accepts electronic payments as well — a welcome change to many.
“Last year, either I would forget to bring my one dollar bills and wait to get my change back, or just forget my cash and not get anything. Last week, I forgot my money, but now I just use Apple Pay as my backup,” said Senior Jordyn Youngman.
Not only is electronic payment a good second option for students, but it is a great first option for most.
Not everyone can easily get their hands on cash, but many students already have Apple Pay on their phones.
“I always would look through my room for five dollars, but now I can just request my mom on Apple Pay,” said Sophomore Darius Wabbington.
All the improvements added to Victor’s Place, run by DECA under the supervision of Jill Martinez, are sure to benefit not only the students but Sunnyslope High School as a whole.
