The Coyotes are a terrible fit for Utah and should be able to stay located in Arizona.
The Coyotes left because the auction to build a new arena this season was canceled by the state but this was a terrible mistake.
The Arizona Coyotes have impacted our economy greatly and losing their revenue will have significant consequences.
“Hoffman’s research group also estimated that the Coyotes would have brought in about $200 million in revenue each year, which has an actual fiscal impact that’s many times greater” Azcentral reported.
Arizona would lose money because they wouldn’t have as many people flying in from other states to buy tickets and spend money at the arena but also because the Coyotes fans wouldn’t be able to spend money on their team.
This considerable financial impact would benefit the local economy greatly, proving the value of promoting longer-term engagements for the team.
Most of the problems affecting the Coyotes can be boiled down to their Owner, Alex Muruelo.
“The Arizona Coyotes are shutting down the fan tailgate & watch party outside of the arena tonight,” one Coyotes Central post told crowds.
The Coyotes Team Owner Alex Meruleo shut down the fans’ watch party outside of the rink for the fans who couldn’t get a ticket proving that Meruleo cared more about making money off the team than the fans and the team itself.
The fans felt betrayed by the team because many people wanted to see the last game and there was a pre-game party out front but once the game started they got kicked out making them lose interest because they realized the owner didn’t care what the fans thought.
People in favor of the relocation have expressed that more people in Utah watch and play hockey than in Arizona.
Utah is very excited to have a hockey team and is already getting many fans before the season has started.
While Utah’s hockey team will have many fans and support for being a new team, the Coyotes also have many fans.
Many people in Arizona and some who live elsewhere love the Coyotes and were outraged when they relocated to Utah.
The Coyotes had around a 4,600-person crowd in their last season game, which may not seem like much compared to other teams but when you remember Mullet Arena, the college rink that they were playing at, could only hold a max of 5,000 fans, that means there were only around 400 seats open.
Granted, all 4,600 fans weren’t there for the Coyotes, but either way, the Coyotes had a strong fan base here in Arizona.
The Coyotes had many supporters from all across the states and provinces that Utah would not have for a while.
Yes, the players and staff deserve better than a college arena.
However, I still disagree with the move to Utah. If they moved to an area like Glendale or another spot in Arizona where the arena might be more favored, they could easily surpass an average of 5,000 fans a game.
Overall, the Coyotes are better suited in a place like Arizona and should not be playing in Utah.
