Taking on multiple tasks at one time is insanely difficult and most people find that impossible to accomplish.
Senior Lizzie FitzSimons is able to easily take on multiple lead roles for our school, while making it look easy.
FitzSimons is the president of National Honors Society, captain of the swim team, is a part of performance dance, has been part of the theater department for 4 years, and has also done pom line.
When asked who has helped her take on all of these roles, she rewards her teachers.
“My great teachers, for example MJ, have taught me so much about having confidence and trying new things. Without her, I would have never done any of these things,” said FitzSimons.
Another teacher she looks up to as well is English Teacher Rose Mullaney.
Mullaney is also the advisor for NHS, which FitzSimons has a huge role in.
Mullaney said, “Lizzie applied and was selected by our former officers because she is an outstanding leader, and already we can see her leadership skills as she has taken on this new position as president. She’s great with speaking and communicating clearly, and she’s also a great example for our other NHS members.”
These qualities also show in her other achievements, such as being captain of the swim team. “She is very driven, so she wants to get stuff done, and she wants to do it a certain way,” said Swim Coach Cameron Licht.
Not only is she determined, but she also is a kind and supportive leader as well.
“She has positive energy, is very supportive and likes to help the kids by giving them encouragement,” said Licht.
Since she was a freshman, she has made an impact on her community, and her peers.
Senior Annabelle Schlesinger said, “Over the years, she has taught me how to be a better person and I have seen her grow through her leadership roles and always being a supportive friend.”
Many of her classmates have also used her as a leader in the classroom as well.
Dance Classmate Senior Ava Vanacore said, “Lizzie has grown as a dancer with her beautiful facial expressions and energy! Lizzie is the ‘it girl’ she is because she’s smart, wise, understanding, inclusive, kind, and beautiful on the inside and outside.”
While many people struggle with time management and procrastination, FitzSimons has no room for either with all her commitments.
“It’s really hard, but I always ask for help and if I need extensions or anything, the staff is always more than willing to accommodate,” said FitzSimons.
FitzSimons is a true inspiration to other students and will continue to leave an impact on our school after she graduates.
