What do girls want for Valentine’s Day?
This is the question on many guys’ minds come February.
And if it’s the question on your mind too, you’ve come to the right place.
Of course, not all girls are the same.
But there are certain things that most girls would like and want for Valentine’s day.
Even if you feel clueless now, after reading this guide, you too will be singing, “I know what girls like, girls like, girls like. . . .”
But even if you’re not a guy, you’ve come to the right place.
Even if there isn’t someone special in your life, maybe you need an idea of what to get for your friend, galentine, family member, crush, or even boyfriend.
Start by picking a gift format.
Maybe you want to surprise her with coffee and flowers in the morning.
Or a stuffed animal and chocolates.
Or, consider going the whole nine yards and building a Valentine’s basket for your girlfriend or galentine.
Starbucks: Any girl who loves Starbucks is sure to love an aesthetically pleasing drink with a cake pop inside of a straw.
Check out their Valentine’s menu, with items like the classic Pink Drink, along with the more original Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Creme Frappuccino or Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew.
Top it off with a Valentine’s or Birthday Cake Pop, but make sure to stick the pop in a short straw first for optimal presentation!
If she has a different favorite, consider Dutch Bros, Black Rock, AJ’s, or Salad and Go instead.
Flowers: C’mon, boys.
You can do better than basic red roses (unless they’re her favorite).
Trader Joe’s is a great place to shop for flowers.
Or, just try to venture further than the red roses in the front of your local grocery store’s floral section.
Trader Joes has a great selection of smaller “petite” bouquets for a great price, as well as larger mixed floral bouquets and beautiful bouquets of single types of flowers, like roses (and not just red ones!).
Also consider carnations, baby’s breath, hydrangeas, and more.
Food: At your local Target or grocery store, you can find any type of candy in festive Valentine’s wrapping, so you’re likely to be able to find her favorite.
Or, consider baked goods like festive cupcakes and sugar cookies from Safeway or Target.
Dunkin’ and Crumbl are also offering Valentine’s specials.
If she prefers something savory, a Chick-fil-A heart tray filled with nuggets or bags of her favorite snacks are the perfect choice.
If you want to get her something fancier, you can’t go wrong with a box of truffles or chocolate hearts from See’s Candies or chocolate strawberries from Edible Arrangements.
Stuffed Animals: The hot item is the Jellycat!
Trust me, any girl would love to receive one.
Jellycat has a cute Valentine’s collection as well as a wide variety of other plushies that she’ll surely love.
Still, if you want something cheaper or easier to find, you can’t go wrong with a Squishmallow, Beanie Boo, or Valentine’s themed teddy bear.
Fancy: If you really want to celebrate your special someone, perhaps you want to spend a little extra, too.
If you want to get her jewelry, Kendra Scott is always a great choice. The brand has adorable heart shaped jewelry.
While the price is a bit steep, it is still much more affordable than Tiffany’s!
You can’t go wrong with perfume, either.
Stay attuned to her favorite scents and brands.
In terms of clothing, she’s sure to love anything from Lululemon, or a warm pair of Uggs!
Miscellaneous: Maybe you want to get your special someone something more unique, or you need fillers for that Valentine’s basket.
Consider getting her a water bottle.
Stanley and Owala are the most beloved brands, and have the perfect colors for Valentine’s day.
Give her the gift of relaxation with a book, candle, skincare, or anything from Bath and Body Works.
Or even loungewear, slippers, or a Valentine’s themed throw pillow or blanket.
If all else fails, you can never go wrong with a gift card.
Then she can pick whatever she wants!
She’ll especially appreciate a gift card to Sephora or her favorite coffee shop.
Homemade: If you don’t want to break the bank, or if you want to give her something more personal, consider gifting her something homemade.
You can go the sentimental route by framing a favorite photo or making a collage.
Or, preserve some flowers so that she can keep them forever.
Bake her something . . . even if you aren’t a chef, maybe enlist help from a mother or sibling . . . and say it’s from you.
Or try making chocolate strawberries, which are hard to mess up.
And don’t forget to write her a card!
Store bought or homemade, either way, she’ll appreciate the gesture.
Where to shop: If you want a one-stop shop, these are the best places.
Target: Candy, Tree Hut skin care, candles, jewelry, books, baked goods, throw pillows (basically, the best place to shop for all kinds of fillers).
Trader Joe’s: Flowers, Sparkling Pink or Berry Lemonade, Mini Heart Cookies, Jelly Bean Hearts, Gummy X’s and O’s, macarons, truffles, Brookie Caramel Candy Clusters, Dark Chocolate Bark (basically, the best place to shop if she loves cute snacks or TJ’s in general!).
Other places to check out: Bath and Body Works, Changing Hands Bookstore, Walgreens or CVS, AJ’s Fine Foods, the Hallmark Store, Dollar Tree, Walmart or any grocery store.
For Guys: Girls, if you want to get something for your special someone too, the options may seem more limited.
But never fear. Guys will always appreciate some sweets or food (Chick-fil-a!), or something more personal and homemade.
You can always go the cheesy route with a stuffed animal.
Or, you can get them something they actually want, even if it is more practical and unrelated to Valentine’s Day.
Or, check out Lego’s floral sets!
Remember, guys only typically get flowers at their funeral . . . but girls might want a set too!
Good luck to all gifters and Happy Valentine’s Day!
