The Problem With Spring Trends: Do’s & Dont’s
Spring is finally here, and with it comes the urge to deeply clean and revitalize our wardrobes. Although Spring is known for pastels, florals and playful fabrics, what’s trending takes a new form this year. So, let’s talk about the fashion Do’s and Don’ts this season.
DO: The Farmer’s Daughter Aesthetic
The ‘Farmer’s Daughter’ look was first popularized in the movie “X” an American slasher film set in 1979. The main character, Maxine Minx, became viral on Tiktok after showcasing her youthful countryside fashion. The trend is a blend of Vintage Americana and Lolita style. Think plaid skirts, cowboy boots, and flowy sun-dresses. Bella Hadid’s Texas re-brand is also feeding into this new craze, with influences now leaning into the southern charm and marketing themselves as country-side trendsetters.
DON’T: Overdo Cottagecore
As popular as the cottagecore aesthetic was, it’s officially taking a backseat this season. The prairie dresses, grandma florals and vintage accessories that Spring has always been known for, have been declining in popularity since 2021. Instead, opt for something more up-to-date and fitted. A tailored gown or a simple baby tee paired with ballerina flats will still capture that soft essence without veering into an old-timey territory.
DO: Sun-Kissed and Fairylike Makeup
Heavy contour and full glam are taking a step back this spring in favor of soft, glowing skin. We saw the clean girl, no-makeup makeup look become popular last year. Still, it rises in popularity. Blush is the star of the season—rosy, peachy, and even slightly sunburnt tones add a natural warmth to the face. The goal is to not look sweaty and hot, but sun-kissed, as if you just pinched your cheeks. Think dewy, almost damp skin with a touch of shimmer on the eyes and lips. If you’re not glowing like you just spent an afternoon in a meadow, you’re doing it wrong.
At the end of the day, fashion is all about self expression, but if you’re looking to stay ahead of the micro-trends, take these do’s and don’ts into account. So, channel your inner farmer’s daughter, add a bit of color, and let your skin glow. Spring is here!
