Managing paychecks, planning for retirement, and buying a house – all of these are examples of personal finance.
Personal finance is an essential part of life and everyone should learn how to make the most effective use of their money.
This is why Chantel Iosefo’s College Mathematics course is the perfect class for learning real-world math skills.
Unlike a typical algebra or statistics class, College Math combines the two and integrates real-life scenarios to simulate making financial decisions as an adult.
Iosefo’s class is structured with lessons, projects, and games that initiate class participation.
Being in this class is like being a financial advisor creating budgeting spreadsheets in a bank.
Iosefo’s teaching style is immersive yet simple; therefore, it is hard to struggle when her teaching is easy to follow.
Not only is Iosefo an influential teacher, she is also sympathetic.
She is well-prepared to help a struggling student when it’s needed and she allows notes to be used on tests.
Students who enroll in this course will also be able to enroll in dual-enrollment with Glendale Community College which offers credits for College Math with a C or higher grade.
Students have found that College Math has been extremely helpful in their lives.
“I did learn a bit about taxes that I didn’t know before,” Senior Blythe Turley said.
Beyond learning essential skills, other projects have also augmented student’s interest in finance.
“The graduation trip had also helped plan out an actual trip for summer,” said Turley.
Overall, many students in College Math have developed a true interest in managing their expenses with some even wanting to dive deeper into it in college.
“I’m hoping to take a minor in finance in college,” said Turley.
Overall, Iosefo’s College Math class is a top-level and engaging curriculum perfect for learning real-life skills.
