Walking through the halls of the K buildings 3rd floor, you pass by one of the classrooms and take a peek in through the doors window. You see kids laughing, talking to their partners, and drawing stories.
This is just a glimpse of what happens in Paul Hershberger’s Spanish 1-2 class: making learning a new language fun and something to look forward to.
In Spanish 1-2, you’re constantly engaged in conversation with your partner or the whole class. In this class, you learn how to speak Spanish, make new friends, and gain knowledge about Spanish speaking countries. You do more than just take notes, you’ll do presentations, watch shows and movies to grow your vocabulary, and have opportunities to move around.
Taking Spanish is like a breath of fresh air. It takes the stress away from the classes you’re worried about. It’s an opportunity to learn and still have fun.
Mr. Hershberger not only does a great job of teaching the class, but also of making sure everyone is engaged. He constantly is coming up with assignments to help students better understand the material we’re learning.
Freshman Madeline Tomich has had an amazing time taking Mr. Hershbergers Spanish 1- 2, her favorite thing we learned was about the Tomato Festival. Tomich said, “I loved learning about the fun traditions and festivals, like the Tomato Festival in Spain.
A favorite game among students seems to be Pancho Carancho, while talking about the game Freshman Ella Horton said, “I look forward to Pancho Carrancho because it provides a way to practice our pronunciation while speaking faster than usual.”
Freshman Lucy Petroff likes how Mr. Hershberger makes the class a judge free environment, Petroff said, “My favorite part of Mr Hershburgers class is being able to make a mistake and being able to correct myself without being judged.”
Make sure to ask your counselor to take Mr. Hershberger’s Spanish 1-2 class for one of your electives. You won’t want to miss out!
