Striped polos, beaded jewelry, cropped t-shirts, and even boxer shorts have started popping up in conversations and in the hallways.
This new wave of trends has brought with it a variety of responses.
So, we asked students from each grade to share their opinions about some of the latest fashion trends.
Their answers revealed that men’s fashion on our campus is less about the clothes and more about the confidence to wear them.
First, striped polos are one of those safer trends.
“They come off preppy, but they’re still casual enough for everyday wear,” said Freshman Weston Woodward. Like Woodward, others were very much pro-striped polos.
The stripes are a popular choice, and almost anyone could name at least one guy in their grade who already wears polos on a regular basis.
Next, beaded jewelry received the most support in reactions.
Some students thought it was a cool accessory, while others thought it crossed into middle-school craft project territory.
Junior Devon Gosset admitted to owning a bracelet like this.
Sophomore Max Staats doesn’t personally wear them, but he did compliment those who do; “People who wear these are steezy,” said Staats.
Whether people like it or not, beaded accessories are definitely becoming a recognizable style choice at Slope.
Another trend we polled students on was cropped t-shirts.
The reactions were immediate.
Woodward was way more straightforward: “I would not wear that.”
Like Woodward, most male teens admitted they wouldn’t wear one themselves, but they respected the confidence it takes.
If the tops were properly styled, there’s even a possibility for a new trend.
Cropped tees may not be the next big thing for teen guys, but they have definitely started conversations.
Boxer-style shorts sparked the most debate.
Some students saw them as just another version of athletic shorts, while others felt they looked a little too casual.
Gosset said people who wear them “need to put longer shorts on..I would wear them for a workout at the gym or for running, but I prefer pants.”
Overall, the trend seems to divide people between those who value comfort and those who prefer clothes that look more put together.
From striped polos to boxer-style shorts, fashion trends hit every student differently.
Some are open to experimenting, while others stick to being basic.
But one theme kept coming up: confidence.
Whether someone’s rocking beads, a cropped tee, or just a plain hoodie, the outfit says less about the clothes themselves and more about how willing someone is to own their style.
