Senior Levi Block gifted Sunnyslope an arch that he created in our district’s welding program, according to Construction Technologies Teacher Jared Hutchison.

Block goes to Cortez High School during the day from 7am to 9am, to participate in their welding program. Students were asked to design and build an arch for their school. The arch was “made as a gift for Mr. Parker,” according to Hutchison, “Levi did the entire thing.” Principal Jonathan Parker described the arch as a “generous surprise”.

The program teaches students “the basics of stick welding, which is the easiest form, and then you can work your way up to doing whatever welding process you want to,” said Block.

According to Parker, there is talk about, “…using [the arch] as an entry to the west side of campus when the renovations and facilities are finished.” But for now, the arch sits behind the Construction Technologies classroom until a permanent home is designated for it.
