Invincible

Mark Grayson is just like every other 17-year-old. He goes to school, he loves The Beatles, and he has friends. He’s completely normal except for one thing: his dad is the most powerful superhero in the world, and he just inherited his powers. The protagonist of the TV show Invincible inherits his father’s superpowers. Invincible follows the journey of Mark as he falls heir to his father’s heroic legacy, but soon discovers it might not be as courageous as it seems. As Mark battles the ups and downs of becoming a superhero known as “Invincible”, he must address his father’s past and fight various superhuman threats. Throughout the story, Mark is forced to balance his personal life with the heavy responsibilities that come with his abilities.
Invincible can be compared to the show The Boys because both series present a more realistic and darker view of superheroes. Instead of portraying heroes as perfect, both shows explore how they can be flawed, conflicted, or corrupt. Additionally, each story focuses on the personal lives of the characters, showing the emotional and moral struggles they face. While both include intense action and violent conflict, they also emphasize deeper themes of power, responsibility, and the consequences of actions. Robert Kirkman creatively develops a dystopian world where superheroes exist. He works to make it familiar and gives the characters relatable, real-world problems, even though they face threats and superhuman abilities. He brings the superheroes to life through animation and emotional storytelling that makes you want to keep watching. Invincible can be watched with an Amazon Prime subscription.
