Grace woke up from a four-year coma with no idea where he was. The first thing he saw was the corpse of the ship’s captain. The second: the endless expanse of space. Grace is the scientific director on a mission to save the world, currently several light-years away from home on Earth’s last chance, Project Hail Mary. The mission’s name doubles as the name of the film: Project Hail Mary. The film follows Grace, a scientist who suffers from amnesia induced by a coma. After waking, he discovers that of the three people sent on the mission, two have died. We follow Grace throughout the movie as he slowly gains his memories and a new friend: an alien from the planet Erid. Grace names this alien Rocky for one glaring reason: he’s a rock. The two connect as partners and work together to discover how to stop Earth’s seemingly inevitable doom. Project Hail Mary does everything right about space. Similar to the hit film Interstellar, prospected for its jaw-dropping visuals and stunning realism to the topic, Project Hail Mary has some of the best visual effects in the last decade. The movie not only stands as one of the most visually stunning in recent times, but also competes with other movies like Deadpool in the comedy aspect, with theaters being filled with laughter at nearly every joke. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller masterfully created a movie that will pull your eyes to the screen like a moth to a flame. The gorgeous style of space they landed on, the hilarious conversations between Grace and Rocky, and the intense third act of the movie create palpable tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Watching Project Hail Mary will likely be the best decision you make of the year, as it truly is a one-size-fits-all movie. Once you find out the ending of the movie for yourself, you won’t be able to forget it for months to come. You can find Project Hail Mary in theaters like Harkins or AMC and every other theater across the nation, and it will begin streaming on Prime Video in June of 2026.
