The new student body officers for the 2026 and the 2027 school year were voted on and elected on April 2nd, bringing new faces to represent Sunnyslope High School.
Every year, Sunnyslope elects 6 people to be a part of the student body. The elect positions are President, Vice President, Treasure, Secretary, Relations and Social Media Manager.
Their job is to keep this upcoming school year spirit alive.
Current student body President Noah Hernandez believes that the new student body will keep the spirit alive
“The student body leaders for the Student Council next year will do amazing. They have already shown great ideas, and next year will be great like this,” he said.
Hernandez loved being president and believes that the new president will do just as good as him.
“My favorite thing to do consistently was to plan and run assemblies. Getting to choose different games, events, and even theme days for assemblies was always nice. It is fun seeing the school all dressed up for assemblies and getting to include different people in fun games,” Hernandez said.
The new student body is being led by Junior Ella Bradley who wants to bring new ideas to Sunnyslope and keep the Slope spirit going.
“I wanted to be president to ensure that our student body is heard. I want StuCo to reflect the needs of our students and take action to fix those problems,” Bradley said.
Bradley has been in StuCo since third grade. In her sophomore year of high school she was sophomore class president and this year she manages Student Body communications. Bradley is determined to make the Slope spirit continue by making new ideas for next year’s assembly, dances, and overall events.
“I have really enjoyed my role. I was in charge of Student Council bonding and creating Student Council community service projects. My favorite one was helping out at St. Mary’s Food Bank,” Bradley said.
Sunnyslope’s spirit has been off the charts this year with exciting assemblies and amazing dances. The upcoming StuCo leaders believe that they will be able to top it next year making Slope spirit even better.
Sophomore Bella Brandes was elected Recording Secretary. She wanted to be part of the StuCo community. Even though it is her first year doing StuCo, she was excited for the new challenge.
Bradley believes that being secretary was best for her.
“I really enjoy note taking, so I thought that secretary would be the best-fit.”
Newly elected Vice President Cole Keebler will help Bradley with new ideas and innovations for the upcoming year.
“I ran for vice president because I want to continue helping the school at a higher level and truly make an impact. I want to help make the school a better place and voice the concerns of all students, big or small.”
Brandes wants to be able to bring new ideas to Sunnyslope High School saying, “I want new spirit days or weeks that are easier to participate in. I also want more people to participate in school assemblies and dances and I hope next year we will be able to make that happen.”
The new student body wants to and will make the upcoming 2026 school year better than ever, making assemblies more accessible and having kids wanting to participate.
Bradley says her goal for next year is to “create more student involvement” and “ to bring more events to our school as well as food opportunities.”
Junior Eva Jacobs, similar to Bradley, has been doing StuCo for 2 years. She decided to run for Treasurer this year. Jacobs first joined StuCo due to her friends convincing her and decided to stay in StuCo throughout the years since she likes helping out.
“My friends who do cross-country with me and they told me interesting stories about StuCo and I just like to be involved,” Jacobs said.
