“You don’t like it? That’s your loss.”
Kanye West, now going by Ye, just dropped his newest album Vultures 1 with TY DOLLA $IGN and ¥$, creating headlines in the music industry.
The album was originally supposed to be dropped on January 12th, but was pushed to the date of February 9th, and then finally came out on the 10th.
Vultures gained popularity online with the clips of North West’s feature on the song “TALKING” going viral.
With all of that said, of course there is some backlash coming from the music industry.
Ozzy Osbourne refused to let him sample “Iron Man,” and called him an “antisemite.”Ye allegedly sampled the song anyway at a listening party; the sample is no longer on the final album.
Donna Summer’s estate also claimed Ye used either AI or another singer to use “I Feel Love” after being denied permission to use the original song.
The song has been removed from Spotify since Valentine’s Day.
But controversies aside, the album has captivating melodies and great lyrics: the song “CARNIVAL” took the number 1 spot on Apple Music’s top 100 with 3 other songs from Vultures 1 marking in the top 10 on February 14th.
These high rankings are due to the strong emotions cultivated in the melodies.
The album makes you feel like you are speeding down the freeway late at night, windows down, wind blowing through your hair, street lights flashing above you.
Vultures is a hype album for nights that you need it.
West creates a specific tone unique to each song that keeps the listener wanting to replay the album over and over.
While Kanye seems to be a controversy magnet, he cannot help but put out music that always hits the charts.
You can listen to VULTURES 1 on Spotify and Apple Music or any other streaming services.
