College brings a lot of new things and experiences especially if you’re going to a new state.
You have to meet new people and focus on classes, and if you’re an athlete then you have to worry about that, too.
However, Junior Kaia Pixler doesn’t necessarily feel too nervous as she heads to South Carolina to play volleyball and said she’s looking forward to all the new experiences and loves the players and coaches.
However, Pixler does know that college will be no easy task.
“I think it’ll definitely be difficult, like change at first, for sure,” said Pixler, “But over time, I mean, there are girls that have gone through it already. So I have resources there. You can always call and talk to my parents, and everything.”
South Carolina seems like a great place for out-of-state players to go and we’re very amicable during the recruiting process.
“I went to a couple of camps, went on a couple calls with some coaches,” Pixler said, “I went to the University of South Carolina County, and there, they got to see me play and interact with the girls and then after like a couple of phone calls I got offered.”
It’s no wonder that South Carolina pursued Pixler with stats consisting of 78 aces and 1797 assists in her career despite some setbacks.
“I did have a couple of injuries,” said Pixler, “So, just coming back from like your severe and having a great support system is super helpful.”
Like fellow volleyball players, Pixler has improved in more than just on the volleyball floor.
“I feel especially like confidence has grown so much and skills, obviously as well,” Pixler said.
This confidence has helped Pixler improve and is one of several reasons why she has constantly gotten better.
“Being surrounded by amazing people,” Pixler said, “Everyone here is so supportive, especially the seniors this year, they’re amazing.”
Next year will be Pixler’s turn to lead the team as a senior and she will be a part of an elite core of future college athletes hoping to make some noise in Arizona volleyball.
