Turquoise Fiji skies with palm trees swaying, and tanned bombshells looking for relationships… This shimmering oasis is set to be the best getaway this summer that anyone would ask for.
Fiery and tenacious, the contenders are ready to find the ‘Special One’ for them.
Emotions heightened and betrayal in time the sun wouldn’t be the only thing sizzling in this villa.
Contestants of the reality tv show Love Island USA season 6 were invited to a once in a lifetime trip in the summer of 2024 at a beautiful villa retreat in Fiji.
The contenders compete to find the perfect partner for them and win a giant cash prize of 100 thousand dollars by surviving challenges and avoiding being voted out of the villa.
Whether you have watched the show or not, you have most likely heard people raving about the characters and drama.
Love Island is a show that brings people together but also tears them apart, it is amazing either way and many people can relate to it; Sunnyslope students are no different.
That’s why it’s all the rave.
A series of students were interviewed to see if any hottakes about Love Island could be uncovered.
“I think that the rise in popularity of the show is really cool. I heard about it from TikTok, so I decided to hop on the trend and watch it,” said Sophomore Emilia Root.
While lots of people have watched and loved the show, some people have big complaints about it.
“I think people talk about it too much and I don’t like the concept of the show,” said Sophomore Sean Moody.
On the other hand, many people think of Love Island as a comfort show that they can relax and watch while also being able to relate to it.
Sophomore Ava Monsoor said, “People can relate to the situations… and it is just a really entertaining show.”
Although many people have watched it, many people who wanted to watch it couldn’t because it was only on one streaming service.
“I wanted to watch Love Island, but it is only available on Peacock; I think they should have more variety in streaming services to expand their viewers,” said Sophomore Kennley Aul.
Everybody that has watched the show has a favorite ‘islander’ (show castmates); some love the qualities of the islander or the way they talked and acted.
“My favorite person in Love Island was Leah, because she always stood up for herself, she is just such a baddie, and she just knows what she wants,” said Freshman Franny Murphy
‘Hate’ is a strong word, but the people who have watched the show definitely like to hate on one islander specifically.
Sophomore Grace Truman said, “I hated Andrea in the show and I think she’s such a ‘Pick-me’; I’m happy that she left.”
Even if you have a deep hatred for the show or one certain Andrea, we can all agree that people have opinions on it, for sure.
From taking social media by storm to repopularizing reality TV shows that are comparable to it, Love Island USA has had a major impact for the last few months on media and culture due to the rapidly rising number of people that watch it everyday.
