Prom is one of the most anticipated events of the school year.
Between the promposals, shopping, decorations, and dance itself, every student can look forward to some aspect of prom.
Student Council announced this year’s prom theme, Under the Lanterns, inspired by the well known Disney movie Tangled.
The theme was previously thought to have been Trolls, but was revealed to be Under the Lanterns at the Spring Sports assembly.
There has been a variety of opinions on the theme from different students attending.
“I think it’s a good theme because it’s well known and a Disney favorite,” said Junior Mack Kump.
Kump was not the only one who liked this year’s theme.
“I like it because it’s different from the last couple of years,” said Junior Sam Root.
While the theme mainly relates to decorations, it is also common to incorporate it into prom outfits.
When asked if this is what they planned to do, students had a variety of answers.
“I don’t know my dress yet, but I’m not going out of my way to follow the theme,” said Junior Reese Koehler.
While some students aren’t keeping the theme in mind while shopping, others are purposely avoiding it.
“I don’t plan on following the theme because I don’t look good in purple,” said Junior Brianna Pecak.
Although student council decides on the themes, many other students also have ideas for upcoming years.
“I really like this year’s theme,” said Koehler, but “Mama Mia: A Night In Greece theme would be really cool to see. “
Some suggestions kept a theme from a movie, while others stayed original.
“I think that a masquerade theme would be super fun another year,” said Pecak.
Prom is very exciting for students, and the theme helps to bring it to life and create a special night for everyone.
Prom will be on May 4th, and be sure to pay attention to announcements for more details on tickets.
