Laughter and the sound of fun floods the gym the moment the class begins. The coaches patiently wait for friends to sit down to learn the newest activity that will be nothing but full of energy. Sights of new and old friends bonding light the class and you know, this will be your favorite part of the day.
The Physical Education class may be mandatory, regardless, it is an experience every freshman is blessed to have, and blessed to remember for the rest of their high school years, all because of our very own, Coach Amber Fleenor and Coach Sarah Schlesinger.
Fleenor and Schlesinger’s class is the break and freedom all freshmen need during their first year in high school. There are games and activities that are challenging, new, and exciting. It’s a chance for freshmen to try something new without fear of being judged, because most likely, it’s new for most as well. It is a space where deep breathes, relaxation, and fun are welcome.
This class is like snuggling up on the couch and watching your favorite movie. It is fun, comfortable, and easy to do. It’s nice to move around and have enjoyable experiences with your friends, especially during a long hard day.
Fleenor and Schlesinger are easy to talk to, and give every student the freedom needed to actually enjoy one of the only breaks students have during the day. Both coaches have accomplished great achievements with students and know
“P.E.p.e has definitely been one of my favorite classes because it combines fun sports and fitness with socialization and the opportunity to meet new people.” Freshman Cora Harding said. She also says that p.e has helped her in many ways, starting with helping her “make several new friends and also encouraging fitness and active behavior. It has provided an environment where teamwork and fitness are encouraged and supported.” The students taking the class not only have fun but also feel supported.
Freshmen Paiton Vito saidys, “I think pe has benefited me in making me as an athlete more well rounded and comfortable trying new sports.” All students are opened up to trying new things they wouldn’t be comfortable trying on their own.
Freshman Charis Iosefo ‘29 saidys, “PE has definitely been one of my favorite classes because I’ve been able to talk and hang out with my friends that I may not see in any other of my classes and then we all get to do these fun activities with one another that you don’t normally get to do outside or inside a school” This class gives everyone an opportunity to make and maintain new friendships.
Even if somehow PE isn’t your favorite class, it is still enjoyable, to say the very least, for all students. Not only is this class a break of the mind, but it promotes healthy fit lifestyles; In conclusion, all the good things to do with this class is all thanks to the hardworking, kind, and fair Coach Fleenor and Coach Schlesinger.
