The laughter echoes off the walls, the smiles can be seen from across the room, but the energy can be felt everywhere. The courts are lined with nets, and rackets lay below them, along with the birdies. No one said what they are going to do today but everyone just knows it’s going to be fun. Badminton is one of the many exciting units everyone seems to love in Coach Amber Fleenor’s Freshman Girls PE class, where she makes exercise enjoyable and memorable for everyone. Fleenor’s class is a place where you can find friends, learn how to play different sports, and know how to take care of your body. This class is like going on a road trip with your friends. Time seems to fly by and by the time you realize, it’s already the end and you just wish you could go back to the beginning. Fleenor brings her classes to life and you don’t realize the year is already over until you think back on the amazing memories you made and how fun it’s been. Not everyone knows how to play sports at first, but Fleenor’s encouraging and energetic way of teaching makes you want to learn and participate. She makes sure everyone follows the rules while still creating a fun and welcoming environment and her cheerful smile always lifts the mood, so you can’t help but want to smile too. Not only does Fleenor have a special way of teaching that works for everyone, but “She’s very helpful,” Freshman Charlotte Scheel said.
Others described her personality. “She’s really nice and she’s always doing things to help other people,” Freshman Natalie Serrano said. Fleenor was not just a coach, she was someone who made exercising fun and gave a break from other classes. “It allowed me to have a break from my academic classes,” Freshman Violet Rawlinson said. Not all teachers can make learning fun, but Fleenor always seems to. No matter what we are doing in class from Flag Football to Indoor Hockey there is something for everyone. If you know an incoming Freshman girl, ask them if they have Amber Fleenor and tell them how amazing she is!
